Memorial Scholarship

PURPOSE: The DKW Memorial Baseball Scholarship was started to commemorate Dmetri and his love of baseball. Dmetri was known not only for his athleticism but also for his character and willingness to give back by helping others succeed. This scholarship is another way for Dmetri to give back and continue to help others. This scholarship is awarded to the Hanford Falcon Baseball athlete who best displays the same character and love of the game as Dmetri both on and off the field.

ELIGIBILITY: Any college bound senior of Hanford High School who competed in at least 2 years of Hanford Baseball one of which was at the Varsity level. The scholarship is subject to NCAA Rules and regulations.

DUE DATE: All applications must be turned into the Hanford Athletic secretary not later than May 2nd, 2024 at 2pm.

I.            Citizenship and Character

II.           Community Involvement

III.          Scholastic Achievement

IV.          Athletics Participation

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: The applicant shall:

I.            Complete the DKW Baseball Scholarship Application.

II.           Submit a one page single spaced essay about:

How being a Hanford Baseball player has prepared you for life.

III.    Submit a copy of your high school transcript.

III.    Submit two letters of recommendation, only one of which may be from a school district employee and may not be from Hanford Baseball staff. (Letter writers should address the scholarship selection criteria)

PAYMENT: A one-time payment of no less than $1000 will be made to the registrar of the chosen school in one complete installment at the beginning of the first enrolled school year. The award may vary based upon donations and participation by the friends and family of Dmetri.

PRESENTATION: The award winner will be announced at the Baseball Awards Night.
